5 Habits of Confident People That Pay Off
By David Moir,
Confident or cocky? I think a lot of times people who believe in themselves are branded as overconfident or cocky. Most of the time these people THINK they know better than you, and it’s a real turnoff. But don’t let those people turn you off from the idea of confidence altogether! It’s really a valuable trait, when used in moderation, can help achieve goals.
That being said, there are five traits of confident people that actually work (and aren’t liable to make your friends and coworkers think you’re a jerk!).
That’s right…Keep It Simple, Stupid! Create a plan or goal then track it and check off bench marks along the way. Back up your confidence with a rational, reasoned approach
2) Keep Your Eye on the Prize
Focus and try not to get distracted. There will be hiccups along the way, and that’s okay. If you do get off track, know who you are and what you’re strengths are. Having a simple goal (see #1) will make this easier. Less to remember!
3) Own the End Result.
Especially if things don’t work out. Those overconfident people you know are always quick to take credit, but often slink away when it comes time to take the blame. A truly confident person will be secure enough to overcome a bad outcome. After all, failure makes you human.
4) Don’t Let Them Get to You!
Don't let others affect your outlook. A cliché but you are what you think about.
5) Eat some humble pie
Your success should speak for itself. No need to bring attention to it. Leave the soap box for someone else! This is probably the biggest complaint about overconfident people. Avoid it!
What do you think?
